Because showing it would hand you information no real trader had.
This is the most common “is it broken?” question, and the answer is that it is working exactly as intended.
A candle is only shown once it has closed at your current clock time. On a 1-hour chart at 14:20, the 14:00 candle is still forming, so it is not drawn yet.
If we drew it, you would be seeing where price is inside a period that had not finished — information a trader living through that moment did not have. That would quietly make every backtest you run worthless.
The same rule is why a higher-timeframe chart appears to lag a lower one when you have several open. The 5-minute chart updates twelve times per hour; the 1-hour chart updates once. Both are correct.
If you want to watch candles build
Choose Tick by tick printing when you set up the session. Each step then advances one minute and the current candle grows in front of you — the wick extends, the body fills, the colour flips — with your profit and loss moving the whole time.
